I recently hear someone refer, in a BBC news program, to people 'starving for lack of food'
They might have trusted us to work that out for ourselves!!

I suspect he meant that the lack of food was so bad that they were, literally, starving.
LOL some people say they are starving when they don't lack food, they just want to stuff themselves more...
