In this morning's Radio 4 news programme, a commentator said that today is the 'monthly anniversary' of the Haiti earthquake.
I wonder how they recruit the people who compose such stuff.

They managed to make the Haiti earthquake sound utterly trivial, no mean feat.
What they should do now is send Ant and Dec over there with a bunch of celebrities to see if they can survive in a burnt-out hovel on a handful of rice and a ball of mud a day. I'm sure the Haitians would be very grateful.
I expect they trivialise events in the hope of making listeners feel cosy and comfortable. Their judgement may be correct, alas.
